AFD LINKS WITH BRAIN TUMOUR RESEARCH

When we first spoke to Brain Tumour Research at the end of last year we were stunned by some of the information that they gave us.

Of course we were aware about brain tumours, and we know that they can affect people no matter what their personal circumstance, no matter their age or how healthy a lifestyle they lead.

What we weren’t aware of is how brain tumours are the single biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40 with an estimation of 16,000 people a year being diagnosed with having a tumour. continue reading…

AFD AND KENT SPORT INTRODUCE PRIMARY FLAG FOOTBALL COMPETITION

Calling all Primary schools in Kent! Hot on the heels of the announcement of a secondary school competition in December, Kent Sport have confirmed the inclusion of flag football to primary School Games programme.

Having been a demo sport at last year’s Kent School Games, and recently added to the School Games programme by the Youth Sports Trust, AFD, who deliver flag football to schools across the county, are happy to support Kent Sport in bringing this fantastic game to the School Games this summer. continue reading…

KENT PHOENIX ANNOUNCE FIRST FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP

Kent Phoenix, the new youth American football team from Maidstone, announced today they will be holding their first flag football camp, this half term.

The camp, which will be held on Wednesday 15th February at Cornwallis Academy in Maidstone and is open to children aged 8-14 years and the club are looking for anyone of any ability – whether they play regularly or are completely new to the sport. continue reading…

AFD LAUNCH CLUB SUPPORT SERVICE

AFD, deliverers of flag football coaching across the South-East of England are today launching a new support service for American Football clubs.

The new Club Support Service will look to help American Football clubs in a variety of ways, utilising the skills and expertise within the team at AFD. Whether that is helping secure funding or marketing support, the service will help and grow clubs across the country.

End of the road or one step closer? Round up of wildcard weekend

Wildcard round is over and for the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders the season is gone. And for some they’ll be glad to see the back of the weekend’s games when their sides were not just beaten but horribly pulled apart.

The Steelers, Packers, Texans and the Seahawks all go into battle again this weekend but know that more challenging teams and locations all await. But in playoffs there’s no time to think about the past, just what lies ahead. continue reading…

NFL season goes wild

So for 20 teams in the NFL the season has well and truly finished. Time to reflect, recruit and rebuild for the next one.

But for the final 12 teams standing we have reached the wild card stages of the playoffs. For the first and second seeds of both the AFC and NFC conferences they receive a bye for this week, which means the Patriots, Chiefs, Cowboys and Falcons all have a week to recover and prepare for the road to Super Bowl LI. continue reading…
