Flag Football for Schools

Flag Football is the easiest way of bringing the game of American Football to children who have never played the game of American Football before.

Flag Football for schools

Bringing football to schoolchildren is at the heart of what we do at AFD and with our work we are also nurturing and developing the next generation of British football players.

This fun, exciting and inclusive non-tackle game has been delivered by AFD to dozens of schools across the South East of England, from Buckinghamshire to Kent. We also run after-school clubs and in-curriculum sessions, CPD for PE teachers and have helped build and develop school teams. However you want to introduce American Football, AFD offers a wide range of services.

AFD has created two specific flag football programmes for British schools – 6Flag™ for primary schools and 8Flag ® for secondary schools.

As a result, the students and staff wanted to run an after school club and this went really well. In fact, we even ended up having an official match against another school  and the sport engaged a group of year 10 students who had started dropping out of other sports. One year on, we continue to run after school clubs and some of the students have joined local American Football teams which indicates how successful the work that AFD have done has been.”
