Joe Walker

Joe Walker started coaching at age 22 for the University of Derby, at age 24 he was recruited to assist coaching the Great Britain Adult Programme and has since spent time coaching at Loughborough University, the BAFA Premiership Tamworth Phoenix, Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent University and has also spent time as a consultant to the Dominican Republic National Team. By far his proudest achievement is being part of the coaching staff for the GB Student Lions National Programme who currently hold a perfect record in international competition.

Joe started playing football whilst he was a student at Derby College aged 18 and has played tackle and flag football including being selected to play for England at the 2004 World Cup of Flag Football in the Dominican Republic. Joe has played almost every position in football and was selected to the All-University team in 2012. Whilst he has retired from contact football due to injury he continues to play flag football in his spare time away from coaching.

Whilst coaching, Joe has always spent time co-ordinating offense, defence or special teams and is one of the most experienced long snapping coaches in the UK and Europe. He studied coaching at Loughborough University and was voted to the position of Director of Education for BAFA in 2013. Since 2008 Joe has dreamt of working full time in American football and his position with AFD has been a culmination of years of work and development both in American Football and the wider sporting community. Joe is currently working towards future coaching opportunities and is currently training as a BAFRA Official.
