AFD Limited, deliverers of flag football in schools and community groups across the South East will be launching its first program in Surrey this week.

Working closely with local American Football club Farnham Knights and with funding provided by Active Surrey, the satellite club will start on Monday 27th February at Farnham Heath End School and is open to boys and girls from Year 9 upwards.

Ally Reid, SGO for Active Surrey commented “We are delighted to be able to launch our first satellite club for flag football in Surrey, which we hope will be the first of many.”

Farnham Knights are one of the most successful clubs in the country, having started the careers of a great deal of players with many going on to represent the GB national team. We hope the satellite club will help introduce the sport to a whole new generation of players and provide them with another sporting opportunity.”

Flag football is a non-tackle version of the full game of American Football and is a fun and exciting game to play. The game helps children to learn a wide range of core skills which they can use across a range of ball sports, while providing them with the ability to move into the full game of American Football if they wish.

Gur Samuel, Managing Director of AFD Limited commented: “We’re delighted to be working closely with Active Surrey and Farnham Knights to introduce flag football to Surrey schools.

We have been involved in satellite clubs in other areas of the South-East and have seen them introduce many players into the game who have gone on to represent their local clubs and is a great way to grow our sport.”

The satellite club starts at 3.10pm and while it is hosted at Farnham Heath End it is open to pupils from any schools in the area and not just restricted to students at the school.
