Kent Phoenix, the new youth American football team from Maidstone, announced today they will be holding their first flag football camp, this half term.

The camp, which will be held on Wednesday 15th February at Cornwallis Academy in Maidstone and is open to children aged 8-14 years and the club are looking for anyone of any ability – whether they play regularly or are completely new to the sport.

Ian Miles, Director of Coaching at Kent Phoenix said: “We are delighted to be able to launch our first flag football day in Maidstone.”

We have recently formed as a youth team and we are looking for players to join us ahead of the season. Flag football is a non-tackle version of American Football, no pads or helmets, but uses a lot of skills children may have learnt in other sports. It’s fun, fast and fantastic to play so we hope lots of people will join us!”

The flag football day will be run by Joe Walker, Head Coach of local American Football coaching company AFD, and is also a current GB Students coach. The day is also supported by Golding Vision.

“We’re delighted to be supported by both AFD and Golding Vision who are both helping us grow as a club and bring more young people into the game,” said Ian.

Coach Walker and his team will take those attending through a whole range of skills and game play as well as awarding the Camp MVP with a prize from AFD and Viper 10 their official sportswear partner.

The cost of the camp is £5 and will run from 9am to 3pm on the 15th February. For more details or to book your child’s place, contact
